EURO-MP HEARS OF LOCAL IT CENTRE'S SUCCESS

>> 26 July 2010

SNP Member of the European Parliament Ian Hudghton paid a visit to BITES - the Buchan IT and E-Learning Service – last week.

BITES, which is based at the Community Service Centre, Market Street, Maud, received a visit from the MEP as he toured the North-east on his annual surgery tour of Buchan communities.

Mr Hudghton met with General Manager Denise Belshaw and toured the facility, meeting with service users before hearing about the success of BITES and the services it delivers.

Commenting after his visit, Mr Hudghton said:

"BITES is an outstanding example of a social enterprise, providing a very high standard of tuition, and it was obvious that the service users who were present during my visit were thoroughly enjoying themselves as well as learning new skills.

"Denise and her team bring a real enthusiasm to the work they do and really make using computers and technology so simple for all concerned.

"All in all, this is a very impressive facility which also serves an extremely useful function in making technology more accessible to various user groups."
