MAX THE ROBOT REVOLUTIONISING INVERURIE PHARMACY
Gordon MSP, Alex Salmond, will today (Monday) officially launch a robotic drug dispensing machine which is revolutionising the work of an Inverurie pharmacy. He will also officially open the chemist’s refurbished premises which include a consultancy room for minor ailments.
Max the robot – so named by pupils of Kellands primary – almost completely removes the margin for human error while filling prescriptions and dramatically increases business efficiency.
Commenting Mr Salmond said:
“Will Chemist has been an integral part of Inverurie’s thriving town centre for the last 21 years and it’s great to see the business taking solid steps to remain at the fore front of technology and prepare for a long future in the town.
“By working closely with other local health care providers, this pharmacy is helping to advance health services in the town. In their new consultancy room, the pharmacists can carry out tests and treat many minor ailments without the patient ever having the need to take a trip to the doctors.
“Having access to great quality local healthcare, as and when it’s needed, is a top priority. Not only is Will Chemist delivering a fantastic local service, Max the robot is helping make sure this service is provided with increasing efficiency.”
Chemist owner, Ian Will, added:
“Max’s name represents his functions – maximum efficiency and maximum accuracy.
“He can dispense 180 products a minute – supplying a complete prescription in 10 to 15 seconds to any location across the pharmacy.
“This speed and efficiency, allows us to spend more contact time with our local clients.”
