>> 15 April 2012
Fraserburgh
SNP councillor Brian Topping
has hailed the success of an intelligence-led operation into the supply of
controlled drugs in the locality resulting in Grampian Police recovering
cocaine with an approximate street value in excess of £7000.
Officers
from Divisional CID and Local Policing Teams carried out the enforcement which
resulted in dealer quantities of the drug being recovered. Officers
also confirmed that referrals had been made to the Community Substance Misuse
Service.
The
raids continue as part of a unique collaborative approach to tackle illegal
drugs and substance misuse in Aberdeenshire, bringing together Grampian Police,
Aberdeenshire Council and NHS Grampian. A 21 year
old male from the West Midlands area will be
appearing at Peterhead Sheriff
Court regarding drug offences.
Commenting, founder and former chairman of
Fraserburgh & District Community Safety Group Councillor Brian Topping said:
“Grampian Police and their partner agencies are to
be congratulated on this successful operation resulting in the recovery of
drugs which might otherwise have been destined for the streets of the
North-east.
“I am delighted that an individual has been
apprehended in this regard and this sends a strong message to those in the West
Midlands who have been targeting the North-east of Scotland.”
