Peterhead Councillor Welcomes Aberdeen Bypass Decision
>> 17 October 2012
Commenting on today’s announcement that the UK Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal by William Walton against the construction of the Aberdeen Western peripheral Route, Peterhead North & Rattray SNP councillor Fiona McRae said:
“It’s been an absolute disgrace that one man, who doesn’t even live in the North-east, should have held up this vital piece of work.
“The SNP Government has stood by its commitment to build the AWPR despite the legal challenges it has faced. Today’s judgement should mean that we can now look forward to the construction and delivery of the bypass.
“Once complete, the bypass will ease congestion in Aberdeen and improve journey times for businesses and individuals across the North-east. Once completed, this will be a boost for Buchan businesses who have to rely on road to get their goods in or out of the area. The concerted efforts of a handful of protestors to derail it have frustrated thousands of people up and down the North-east.”
