SNP Question Missing Council Motions

>> 16 November 2012

Commenting on the discovery that not a single 'Notice of Motion' submitted in advance of the full meeting of Aberdeenshire Council next Thursday (22 November) has been accepted for debate, SNP Shadow Council Leader Cllr Hamish Vernal said:

"This seems to be a highly unusual situation where councillors have had their Notices of Motion rejected but have not had the courtesy of being told, let alone been given the reasons as to why.

"Clearly, given the Tory-led administration's stated wish at the start of the new session to be open and transparent they will wish to rectify this and I for one look forward with interest to learning the justification for closing down democratic debate on these subjects."
