St Combs Couple Congratulated on 70th Wedding Anniversary

St Combs couple Alec and Martha Nicol of Mid Street reached a milestone 70 years of marriage at the weekend.

Local councillor Fiona McRae dropped by with a card and flowers for the couple on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council, accompanied by Banff & Buchan MP Eilidh Whiteford.

Mr and Mrs Nicol have 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

Commenting, Cllr Fiona McRae said:

“It’s always a pleasure to officiate at Golden or Diamond Weddings for the council, but a 70th wedding anniversary is even more special.

“I very much enjoyed chatting to Mr and Mrs Nicol and wish them continued happiness in the years to come.”

Banff & Buchan MP Eilidh Whiteford added:

“Incredibly, Mr and Mrs Nicol informed me that this is not the first point in time in their family history when the family tree has spanned five generations at once. It was a delight to meet Mr and Mrs Nicol and hear all about their family, including their great great-grandchildren, and I congratulate them on reaching this milestone anniversary.”
