The scheme is managed by Family Fund, a highly-respected charity which supports families with disabled or seriously ill children or young people, and as well as its own grants, the charity is also keen to promote the ‘Take-a-Break’ scheme, which is funded by the Scottish Government, and provides grants to parent carers (unpaid carers and eligible kinship carers) of disabled children and young people, aged 0-20 who have complex additional support needs.
Commenting, Cllr Leeann McWhinnie said:
"Monday’s deadline is rapidly approaching and I’m urging all carers of disabled children, young people and their families who may be interested in getting a paid-for respite break to ensure they get their application in.
"Take a Break is Scotland’s short breaks fund sponsored by the Scottish Government. Take a Break grants can be used for a break away, towards leisure activities or outings; sports equipment and much, much more. Take a Break can accept applications from parent carers and eligible kinship carers, of disabled children and young people, aged 0 to 20 who have complex additional support needs.
