TOPPING MOTION ON FRASERBURGH MATERNITY SERVICES GOES TO FULL COUNCIL

>> 29 September 2009

Fraserburgh SNP councillor Brian Topping will take the fight to preserve maternity services at the town’s hospital to this week's meeting of Aberdeenshire Council.

Councillor Topping's Motion go before the Full Council when it meets in the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre this Thursday.

Commenting, Cllr Brian Topping said:

“These recent developments around the provision of maternity services at the town’s birthing unit are of great concern.

“NHS Grampian need to remember that Fraserburgh is the only town in Scotland with a population of over 10,000 people which is more than one hour from an acute services hospital. We need to maintain the maternity provision we have in Fraserburgh for local expectant mothers.

“I have tabled a Motion for Thursday's meeting of the Full Council where I hope it will receive the unanimous support of members.”
