PETERHEAD COUNCILLOR WELCOMES POLICE CRACKDOWN ON ANTI-SOCIAL DRIVING

>> 2 June 2010

Peterhead North SNP councillor Fiona McRae has praised the initiative by Grampian Police carried out last week where unmarked patrol cars targeted young drivers committing committing "anti-social" driving in Peterhead.

Councillor McRae had previously raised concerns with the local Buchan Area Inspector following complaints at a meeting of Peterhead Community Council regarding poor driving practices.

Commenting, Councillor Fiona McRae said:

"I very much welcome this initiative from the police. Anti-social driving is a quality of life issue for those who have to put up with it on a regular basis if they happen to live on "the circuit", quite apart from being extremely dangerous.

"I hope that as the offenders receive visits from uniformed police over the next few days and the possibility of charges that this will serve as a powerful deterrent to others."
