SUCCESSFUL SNP BURNS NIGHT IN TURRIFF

>> 25 January 2011

Over 100 guests attended Saturday night’s Scottish National Party Burns Supper, held at Buckley’s at Deveron Country House, Turriff. Gordon MSP, First Minister and SNP candidate for the new East Aberdeenshire constituency Alex Salmond was guest of honour and proposed the immortal memory.

Banff & Buchan MP Dr Eilidh Whiteford gave the Toast to Scotland, while Euro-MP Ian Hudghton proposed the Toast to the Lassies, which was replied to by Lynsey-Anne Marwick. Banffshire & Buchan Coast SNP candidate Stewart Stevenson MSP was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and former Ellon Academy Rector Alan Cameron entertained the assembled company with some Burns songs.

Commenting, local MP Dr Eilidh Whiteford said:

"I was delighted with the excellent turnout and credit must go to the hotel management and staff at Deveron Country House for their efficiency on the night and of course the excellent meal they provided.

“The SNP in Turriff and District is going from strength to strength thanks to the efforts of our hardworking local SNP councillors and our team of volunteers and I congratulate them on another very successful Burns Supper."
