Inverurie Says 'Yes' as Pro-Independence Campaign Returns to Town
>> 28 April 2013
Local activists from 'Yes Scotland' were out in force to greet shoppers yesterday (Saturday 27 April) in Inverurie, as part of a 'Yes Aberdeenshire' day of action.
The group spent the morning and early afternoon speaking to voters about the forthcoming referendum, as well as gathering signatures for the 'Yes Scotland' declaration.
The day of activity coincided with rival pro-union group 'Better Together' holding their launch event in Inverurie.
A spokesman for Yes Aberdeenshire welcomed the rival group's launch, saying that they looked forward to the debate to come.
“While 'Better Together' has been trying to get itself organised, the 'Yes Aberdeenshire' team has been out and about for months taking our positive message about Scotland's future direct to the people and winning their support”, the spokesman said.
“The fact that we've been out on the streets today talking to voters while Better Together have been in a room talking only to themselves, tells you all you need to know about how the campaigns are contrasting.”
