50 Firefighters Tackled the Blaze in Inverurie

Alex Salmond MP (Gordon) has praised the fire service for their hard work in tackling the blaze at Lethenty Mill in Inverurie.

Fire fighters were called out at 0440 hours this morning to Lethenty Mill to a well-developed fire which has caused significant damage as to the furniture shop, photo studio, car workshop, engineering workshop and flats.

Commenting Mr Salmond said:

"Terrible news coming from Inverurie today. However, I am relieved to hear that there are no casualties.

"My thanks go to the 50 firefighters who have been working tirelessly throughout the night and today at Lethenty Mill to control the blaze.

"I am very familiar with the Mill and the businesses there as I recently produced an audio book in the recording studio.

"A great loss to the local community and I hope it can be restored and businesses returned."

SNP Candidate for Aberdeenshire East, Gillian Martin added:

"This is devastating for the local businesses who are based at Lethenty Mill, all of whom are well known in the area and beyond.

“I'm relieved to hear that no-one has been injured and thank the fire service for their quick response."
