SNP Announce Ross Cassie as Candidate for Troup

>> 11 March 2022

Local Commitment and Experience

Macduff resident and current SNP councillor Ross Cassie has been selected by local SNP members to stand once again for election to Aberdeenshire Council for Troup Ward.

Ross Cassie, 60, is married with two daughters and lives in Macduff with his wife, Sue. Prior to being elected as a councillor for the Troup Ward at a by-election in 2014, Ross worked for the Driving Standards Agency as a driving test examiner and previously served as a police officer with the West Midlands Police.

Commenting, Cllr Ross Cassie said:

“It has been a privilege to represent Troup Ward and I am delighted to be a candidate to represent the ward again.

“The last five years of Conservative-led council administration have seen a lack of ambition for our coastal communities. At a time when council budgets are being squeezed as a result of Westminster retaining funds which should properly be going to the Scottish Government, we need a council administration which will work constructively with all levels of government rather than councillors elected on a ticket of “no to indyref” with few ideas of what to do beyond sloganising.

“If re-elected, I will continue to work hard for the communities of Macduff, Gardenstown, Rosehearty, Sandhaven and surrounding areas and I am pleased to submit myself to the voters once again.”
