SALMOND CELEBRATES HUNTLY ARTS

>> 7 September 2010

Gordon MSP Alex Salmond was a guest of Deveron Arts this Sunday (5th), to officially launch Huntly's "Town Collection".

The collection consists of all the art works which have been left by artists in residence who have worked with Deveron Arts since it was established fifteen years ago.

There are currently fifty five artworks in over forty locations around the town.
Mr Salmond also officially opened Deveron Arts’ recently refurbished office premises and was joined for lunch by Claudia Zeiske, Director of Deveron Arts.

Speaking after the launch, Mr Salmond said:

"I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Deveron Arts. These art works are a celebration of the projects which have taken place, and a permanent reminder of the artists who have come to Huntly.

"It was a great honour to be asked to officially open the organisation’s recently refurbished premises, and to launch the ‘Town Collection’.

“Scotland has a world-wide reputation as a land of creativity and innovation and organisations like Deveron Arts are helping deliver that message to the local community and get it involved in that creativity firsthand.

“I would like to congratulate all those involved in Deveron Arts, especially its Director, Claudia for their dedication in making Huntly a viable space for art production, and for involving local residents in their projects.”
