LOCAL COUNCILLOR WELCOMES MOBILE POLICE SURGERIES

>> 3 March 2011

Ellon & District SNP councillor Rob Merson has welcomed the news that Grampian Police will be reaching out to local communities across Formartine this weekend.

Officers will be taking the Mobile Police Surgery to Newburgh, Foveran and Udny Station and making themselves available to discuss any issues of concern with local residents.

Commenting, Councillor Merson said:

“I very much welcome this initiative from Grampian Police. It is important that police officers are accessible and available in all our communities to get first hand information from local residents.

“Thanks to the SNP Scottish Government’s pledge to put 1000 extra police officers on our streets, our local police force is able to take initiatives such as these. I hope that the proposed reforms of policing in Scotland will lead to more resources being available to front-line officers by stripping out layers of management.”

Councillor Merson will be visiting the Mobile Police Office at Newburgh at 10.45am on Sunday 6 March.

Note:

Officers will be in the following locations at the times stated on Sunday 6 March:

Main Street, Newburgh – 9.00am until 11.00am
Blairythan Terrace, Foveran – 12.00pm until 1.00pm
Udny Station - 1.30pm to 2.30pm
