SNP: A RECORD OF DELIVERY AND THE PROMISE OF MORE
Alex Salmond, SNP candidate for Aberdeenshire East was this week given a tour of the progress at the redevelopment of Strichen Community Park – a project he was heavily involved in as MP for Banff and Buchan.
Strichen was part of the Banff and Buchan constituency, which Mr Salmond represented as an MP for 23 years but due to boundary changes at this election it will now form part of the new Aberdeenshire East Scottish Parliament constituency, where Mr Salmond is standing at the forthcoming election on May 5th.
Mr Salmond played an instrumental role in developing the area around Strichen Lake and helped to secure funding for a new lottery funded café and visitor centre which is due to open to the public at the end of May.
Commenting on his visit Mr Salmond said;
“It has been a pleasure to see the lake develop into a first class facility for the North East, which will attract dog walkers and picnickers alike to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and beautiful setting all year round.
“I represented this part of Aberdeenshire as an MP for 23 years and it is a place that is close to my heart. The SNP has a strong record of delivery in the North East, a record I fully intend to build on if re-elected as MSP for Aberdeenshire East."
Hebbie Fowlie, Director of Strichen Community Park Company, added:
“This will be an incredible area once it is completed, providing a year-round meeting place, recreation facility, craft retail outlet and tourist attraction.
“Alongside Strichen Lake the new centre will be a great choice for families to come and enjoy the beautiful surroundings that this corner of the North East has to offer.
“A lot of time and hard work has gone into this project and it will be a proud moment to see it completed for everyone.”
