MSP Makes Donation To Hall Campaign
>> 26 September 2011
SNP North East MSP Mark McDonald has donated £500 to the Daviot Village Hall Campaign.
Mr McDonald met with Kay Diack and Diane Scott from the Village Hall during his Aberdeenshire surgery tour.
A campaign is underway to replace the ageing and dilapidated village hall with a modern facility. The campaign aims to raise £445,000 and has thus far raised £298,000.
The campaign is seeking a mixture of large and small donations and is offering donors who give more than £25 a chance to have their name displayed on an acrylic plaque.
Mr McDonald made the donation as part of his pledge to donate his council wage to voluntary groups and charities.
On receiving the cheque, Kay Diack said,
"Daviot Village Hall are delighted to receive £500 from Mark McDonald MSP as a Sandstone gift for our recently launched Keystone Campaign.
"We aim to build a new village hall in 2012 and have so far raised £298,000 from a number of local individuals, local businesses and grant awarding bodies.
"For further information, please contact Diane Scott, Secretary (diane@wicketslap.wanadoo.co.uk) or Find us on Facebook (Daviot Village Hall)."
Commenting, Mr McDonald said:
"It is great that the group have raised so much money already, and hopefully they will be able to get the remainder of the money secured and can start work on the new hall.
"I was happy to make a donation to assist their efforts and I would encourage other people to donate and help the group to reach their target."
