Salmond Welcomes Strichen School Success

>> 20 September 2011

Local Aberdeenshire East MSP, Alex Salmond, has today welcomed the announcement that Strichen School is to receive £7500 of 'Awards for All' funding.

The cash boost, which meets the organisation’s 'healthier communities' category, will be used to build an adventure trail for pupils. It is hoped the new facility will encourage local children to exercise regularly both in and out of school hours.

Commenting, Mr Salmond said:

"This is great news for the pupils at Strichen School and I am especially pleased to support this development in my home town.

“The Scottish Government is committed to promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles from an early age, and this new facility will do just that.

"It is extremely encouraging to see dedicated staff taking the initiative and working to improve their school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts on behalf of the community."
