SNP group Comment On Aberdeenshire Administration

>> 10 May 2012

Commenting on the news that an alliance of Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Independents are set to form the new administration of Aberdeenshire Council, SNP Group Leader Cllr Joanna Strathdee (Huntly, Strathbogie & Howe of Alford) said:

“Talks with individuals and other parties were very positive so I am extremely disappointed that an anti-SNP coalition is intent on keeping the largest party in Aberdeenshire out of administration.

“We went to the people on May 3rd with a manifesto programme which received overwhelming support from the electorate and people will be surprised that despite being the biggest party, other groups have come together to exclude the SNP from administration.

“We will move forward and act as a constructive opposition, being supportive where it is in the best interests of the people of Aberdeenshire and challenging where we feel it isn’t. I wish the new administration luck in getting their programme through, which may not always be easy given the wide range of parties and Independents involved.”
