Councillors Welcome Funding Awards for Lonmay & St Fergus

>> 20 June 2012

Peterhead North & Rattray SNP councillors Fiona McRae and Anne Allan have welcomed the latest round of funding awards from the Buchan Area Initiative 2012.

The awards, agreed by councillors at a meeting of the Buchan Area Committee this week, include £3000 to Lonmay Public Hall Trust and £3000 to St Fergus Community Association.

Commenting, Cllr Fiona McRae said:

“These funding awards are vitally important and they have the potential to lever in match-funding from a variety of other sources.

“I know, for example, that Lonmay Public Hall’s award will be put towards a further upgrade of the hall, while St Fergus Community Association will use their award towards the final phase of their Community Park Improvements.”

Cllr Anne Allan added:

“The majority of applications received this year relate directly to community proposals for halls or recreational areas.  These are projects which have been prioritised by their local communities and I am pleased that they have gained the support of the Buchan Area Committee.”
