Councillors Welcome Funding Awards for Hatton & Cruden Bay

>> 20 June 2012

Peterhead South & Cruden SNP councillors Stephen Smith and Stuart Pratt have welcomed the latest round of funding awards from the Buchan Area Initiative 2012.

The awards, agreed by councillors at a meeting of the Buchan Area Committee this week, include £2000 to Hatton Public Hall, £1000 to Port Erroll Harbour Management Committee, and £3000 to Cruden Bay Recreation Park.

Commenting, Cllr Stephen Smith said:

“These funding awards have the potential to lever in match-funding from a variety of other sources, so are vitally important.

“I know, for example, that Hatton Public Hall’s award will be put towards a further upgrade of the main hall, building on the tremendous improvements achieved there already by the hall committee, while the pavilion at Cruden Bay Recreation Park will benefit hugely from the award there.”

Cllr Stuart Pratt added:

“The majority of applications received this year relate directly to community proposals for halls or recreational areas.  These are projects which have been prioritised by their local communities and I am pleased that they have gained the support of the Buchan Area Committee.”
