SNP Councillor Blackett Welcomes Ballater Station Progress

>> 26 April 2016

Commenting on the news that plans to redevelop fire-ravaged Ballater station have moved a stage forward, local SNP Councillor Geva Blackett said:

"This is great news and a real shot in the arm for Ballater. I am delighted that the council has committed to identifying the funds needed and to progressing with the design work needed to restore the station to its former glory.

"Bringing together VisitScotland, the community library, exhibition space and a restaurant will create a fantastic visitor hub. This is a real vote of confidence in the community and marks another step down the road to recovery following the floods."

It is hoped that work can get underway in December of this year and that the new station will be opened in December 2017, in line with the Winter Festival.
