TRUMP GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

"A victory for common sense" – Cllr Rob Merson

Ellon & District councillor Rob Merson welcomed the news that the Trump International Golf Links proposal has been given the green light by the Scottish Government. Cllr. Merson is the SNP Council Group Spokesman on Planning & Economic Development, and was one of the members who supported the application vigorously when it was brought before the Formartine Area Committee. Part of the development also lies within his Council Ward.

Speaking from the grounds of Menie House this afternoon, he said:

"Today's decision has been a victory for common sense - and I expected nothing less of John Swinney. While I fully appreciate the concerns expressed by environmental lobbyists, there was an overwhelming economic argument presented for the project to be given the go ahead.

"I congratulate Mr. Trump and his management team on their success, and commend them for their commitment and fortitude in the face of what has been, thanks to the comments of certain individuals, a fairly discouraging experience for them."
