Kingseat Residents Get Gritting Commitment
>> 4 December 2012
Arrangements will shortly be put in place to ensure roads are cleared of snow and gritted on the Kingseat housing development near Newmachar.
Residents have been frustrated and found it difficult to cope with snow and ice on the road network within the Kingseat Development. Now for the first time a formal agreement between the Developer and the Council will see the roads being gritted and grit boxes placed throughout the Kingseat site.
Aberdeenshire Roads Dept will do the work and the costs will be re-charged to the Developer. The road network within the Kingseat has not yet been adopted by the Council and therefore responsibility for snow clearing and gritting lies with the Developer.
The Local SNP said:
"Grit bins will also be placed around the site to assist residents at times when some extra grit is required.
"In previous winters residents had great difficulty getting in and out of the site, as the snow was left to pile up and not a gritter in sight. We hope other Developers take this as a good example and make arrangements for their sites to be cleared of snow and gritted.”
