Stonehaven Councillor Makes Budget Call for Flood Defences
>> 19 February 2013
Speaking during the budget debate at the meeting of Aberdeenshire Council on Thursday, Stonehaven & Lower Deeside SNP Councillor Graeme Clark said:
“Stonehaven has gone through enough and residents need to be reassured that agencies – including the council – are listening.
“The Alliance Budget put nothing aside for flood defences. However, the SNP group made a priority of people who have been forced out of their homes.
“Insurance companies also need the reassurance that flood defences will be built before they will insure residents. I have spoken to homeowners in my ward that either can't get insurance or have huge excesses as a result of the flooding.
“Residents and insurers need to be assured that something is going to be done soon.”
