>> 30 May 2014
Players and officials from Peterhead Football Club were honoured at a Civic Reception held by local councillors at Arbuthnot House this week.
The club was presented with a commemorative Quaich and certificate to mark the occasion of winning the League 2 Championship this season and securing promotion.
Commenting, Buchan Area Committee Chairman and Peterhead South & Cruden SNP councillor Stuart Pratt – himself a frequent attender at Balmoor Stadium - said:
“The club’s success has been absolutely tremendous for the town and has put Peterhead on the footballing map. This award is in recognition of the fantastic achievement in winning the League Two title.
“It was their first trophy since gaining entry to what is now the SPFL and they were by far the best team in the league.
“We wanted to recognise this achievement and the committee agreed it would be fitting to present them with the Pride of Buchan Award.”
