SNP candidate for Aberdeenshire East, Alex Salmond, has visited Inveramsay Bridge in his latest stop on his tour of key local SNP achievements.
In the constituency, Mr Salmond started his tour by visiting small businesses in Ellon who have been kept afloat thanks to the SNP’s small business bonus. He then met with constituents in Inverurie who have benefitted from the abolition of prescription charges and spoke to pensioners who are happy that the SNP is maintaining the free bus pass – and extending it to veterans. Mr Salmond has also visited the stretch of road on the A90 between Balmedie and Tipperty which will be dualled thanks to the SNP Government and the site of the Inverurie Inner Relief Road which has made substantial progress thanks to Mr Salmond’s intervention as MSP.
Commenting, Mr Salmond said:
“Locally, under the SNP we have recently seen the announcement of the dualling of the A90 between Balmedie and Tipperty, substantial progress in solving the notorious bottleneck at Inveramsay Bridge and progress in the bid to secure the Inner Relief Road in Inverurie.
"These roads are key strategic links and everyone in the constituency recognises the importance of delivering these upgrades. Not only will they reduce delays and ease journey times but they will improve business links, helping to promote economic growth in the area.
“I am particularly delighted at the Inveramsay upgrade, given that Inveramsay had never before been mentioned in a transport program before the SNP came to power. After years of inaction by previous administrations, and almost 30 years of Lib Dem representation in this constituency, it is only because we have an SNP Government in power that we have seen such significant progress on this project.
“Under the SNP, much has been achieved in this area. The figures say it all – since the SNP came to power there are 256 more nurses in Grampian, 236 more affordable homes in Aberdeenshire, 824 modern apprenticeships provided in Aberdeenshire and 5 new schools completed in Aberdeenshire.
“With the continued support of people in Aberdeenshire we can build on the work of the past four years. Together, we can make Scotland better. In May, vote for a Scottish Government working for Scotland. Vote for an SNP Government."
