“This is very badly-needed and will be welcomed by people in Cruden Bay. There has been a long campaign for a new bridge over a period of many years and we’ve had instances in recent years where the bridge has had to be closed owing to lack of maintenance.
“This will give the village a new bridge which will maintain access to the beach, which is not only important for locals but also draws a lot of people to Cruden Bay who spend money in local shops and hotels.
“It is important that the construction is carried out within as short a time as possible so that the period when there will be no access to the beach is kept as short as possible.”
